Things To Do Near the University of Kansas
What to do near KU when you have an afternoon, a visiting family, or a bored roommate.
KU sits on a hill and downtown sits at the bottom of it, about a mile apart. Almost everything worth doing is on that line.
Massachusetts Street
Mass Street is the main run of downtown Lawrence — restaurants, coffee, record shops, bookstores, bars, and a lot of local storefronts that have been there longer than most of the students. It's walkable end to end and it's where you'll end up whether you planned to or not. We're at 727 Massachusetts St, in the middle of it.
An hour that isn't eating
Four escape rooms, 60 minutes each, private for your group. It works for a visiting family, a floor of a dorm, a student org, or two roommates who are bored on a Tuesday. Rooms run 2–8 players. Times are here.
Campus itself
Walking KU's campus is worth an afternoon on its own, particularly along Jayhawk Boulevard. If you're visiting a student, they will pretend this is boring and then narrate the entire walk.
Game days
On big KU weekends downtown gets busy and parking gets competitive. If you're booking anything with a start time, add ten minutes to whatever you were planning. More on downtown here.
